Olivia & Jordan
Intentional details can take a wedding day to the next level, capturing all the things that matter to you. For O & J, that meant photographing the day on 35mm film.
Inspired by a family friend’s black and white wedding photos (back when all wedding photos were shot on film), Jordan asked if it would be possible to photograph the day not just on digital, but also on film. He wanted that gritty, moment-frozen-in-time, nostalgia-inducing feeling that only film can give.
Up to that point, I had only shot film on personal trips. My mom had passed down her film camera to me that all of my childhood photos were shot on, and a few months prior I picked up a second point and shoot camera (the Olympus Stylus Epic— such an amazing camera!) from Armadillo Camera, the local photo shop in Lubbock, Texas. Getting to incorporate 35mm film into my weddings, elopements, and portraits had been a long-term goal of mine and so I was excited to finally get to put all my film cameras to work.
Fellow industry creatives like Katch Silva and Hannah Shea have really made film a focus of their wedding photography, and I absolutely love the nostalgia and emotion those images evoke and was so excited to try and capture those same feelings for Olive and Jordan during their DIY and vintage-inspired backyard wedding.
Here is their gorgeous, love-filled wedding day, entirely on 35mm film.
