OneOcean: Freediving with Sharks in Oahu, Hawaii

While sharks are definitely not cute little puppies ready to be cuddled, they’re also not bloodthirsty monsters. Getting to dive with them and be so close to creatures that have been around for SO long was akin to standing under the Redwoods in California. It was an experience that moved me deeply, and I’m so grateful for it.

Even if diving with sharks is too far out of your comfort zone, I’d still encourage you to find things in your life that you currently feel fear about, and try and replace that fear with curiosity. In the words of Georgia O’Keefe, “I've been absolutely terrified every moment of my life - and I've never let it keep me from doing a single thing I wanted to do.”

Here’s to a year of getting amongst it, stepping out of our comfort zones, and replacing fear with curiosity.
