Cece & Johnston

Last night, we headed out for an adventurous portrait session in the sand dunes of New Mexico and this quickly became one of my favorite shoots.

This wasn’t White Sands or Monahans, two of the most well-known sandhills and photo session favs of Texas and New Mexico, although this was shot in New Mexico (a state I consider to be highly underrated).

After relaxing among the desert flora, I had Cece and Johnston run around the dunes. I’m pretty sure Cece thought I was trying to kill them or at least wondered if I was secretly a physical trainer, because they definitely burned some calories running up and down the pristine sandhills.

Towards the end of our session, the soft red tint of the sunset turned our New Mexico sandhills into the Sahara Desert. “We’ve been transported to Morocco!” I shouted as the two held hands and walked along the dune.

Save yourself money on a plane ticket and attain those Sahara Desert vibes here locally; For more U.S. sand dunes that look like Morocco, go check out this blog post by Anni Graham.
